AURORA C. IGNACIO

Director Aurora C. Ignacio assumed office as a member of the PDIC Board of Directors on 9 March 2022. Prior to her assignment at the state deposit insurer, Director Ignacio served as President and CEO of the Social Security System from 2019 to 2022 and spearheaded the agency’s accelerated digitalization initiatives for the benefit of its members, especially at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Under Director Ignacio’s leadership of the SSS, the organization was also able to maximize partnership with banks and e-wallet providers for the release of SSS members’ benefit claims and loan proceeds, and implemented the first paperless, corruption-free Small Business Wage Subsidy program during the pandemic. She was the first woman Chairperson of the Social Security Commission before she became the President and CEO. She was an Assistant Secretary for Special Projects in the Office of the President and focal person for anti illegal drug campaign, as well as part of the National Food Authority Council.

Her range of expertise includes holding top management positions in private banking institutions, which equipped her with a holistic view of the banking and financial industry from both the private and public sector’s perspectives. Director Ignacio graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from the Centro Escolar University.
