PDIC turns over initial donation to Gawad Kalinga

TURNOVER OF BENEFIT RUN DONATION. The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC), led by its President Valentin A. Araneta (center), turns over a check in the amount of P1.85 million to Gawad Kalinga Development Foundation, Inc. as initial donation for the construction of shelters for Yolanda victims in Leyte. Receiving the check on behalf of Gawad Kalinga is its Operations Head Dan Bercasio (3rd from left). The initial donation was raised through the benefit run, “Takbo sa Pagbangon ng Leyte”, held on May 4, 2014 at the PNB Financial Center with around 3,000 participants for the 3K, 5K and 10K events. “Takbo” aimed to raise public awareness on the PDIC and support its corporate social responsibility program which advocates for the protection of the environment and the balanced development of communities. The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) was established on June 22, 1963 by Republic Act 3591 to provide depositor protection and help maintain stability in the financial system by providing permanent and continuing deposit insurance. Effective June 1, 2009, the maximum deposit insurance coverage is P500,000 per depositor. All deposit accounts by a depositor in a closed bank maintained in the same right and capacity shall be added together. A joint account shall be insured separately from any individually-owned deposit account.

by virtue of Republic Act 3591, as amended, to insure
the deposits of all banks. PDIC exists to protect
depositors by providing deposit insurance coverage for the depositing public and help promote financial stability. PDIC is an attached agency of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
