The Supreme Court dismissed with finality the libel charges filed against former PDIC President and CEO Norberto C. Nazareno by Hilario Soriano, president of the closed Rural Bank of San Miguel (Bulacan), Inc. The decision is now executory.

On November 30, 2004, the Judgment Division of the Supreme Court of the Philippines served on PDIC a copy of the Entry of Judgment made in the above-entitled case. Quoted hereunder is the complete text of the Entry of Judgment. It reads:

"This is to certify that on February 9, 2004, a resolution rendered in the above-entitled case was filed in this Office, which reads as follows:

'G.R. No. 161033 (Hilario P. Soriano vs. Norberto Nazareno). - Acting on the petition for review on certiorari of the decision dated September 24, 2003 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. SP No. 75624, the Court Resolved to DENY the petition for failure of petitioner to show that a reversible error had been committed by the appellate court.'

and that the same has, on September 6, 2004, become final and executory and is hereby recorded in the Book of Entries of Judgments."

As it is, the dismissal with finality by the Honorable Supreme Court of the libel charges filed by Mr. Hilario P. Soriano against former PDIC PCEO Norberto C. Nazareno has become final and executory.
