Presidential Proclamation No. 358 issued on April 4, 2003, declares the period 16 to 22 June of every year as Depositor Protection and Awareness Week (DPAW) and mandates the PDIC as the lead agency for the observance. DPAW aims to strengthen the nation's banking system by increasing depositor trust and support the government's goal of promoting economic growth by encouraging saving in banks.

During DPAW, banks are enjoined to prominently display the official DPAW banner on their premises and show it on their ATM screens, in-branch monitors, websites, and social media platforms. Additionally, banks are encouraged to share the informational content and infographics available on the official PDIC Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts on their respective social media channels. All DPAW materials can be downloaded from the PDIC website at, www.pdic.gov.ph/dpaw, and the informational content can be directly shared from PDIC's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/OfficialPDIC.
