Manalo, Quila appointed to PDIC Board |
The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) announced the appointment of Messrs. J. Antonio M. Quila and Rogelio W. Manalo to the PDIC Board of Directors as private sector representatives. Quila and Manalo took their oath before Finance Secretary and PDIC Chairman of the Board Margarito B. Teves at the Department of Finance Complex in Manila. Both directors have previously held various senior positions in the fields of banking and public administration. Director Quila, an economist, development banker, and commercial banker, has a 25-year track record with the Asian Development Bank holding various managerial and directorship positions. He retired as the Special Advisor to the ADB President in 2003, as the highest ranking Filipino officer in the ADB. During his stint with the Bank, Quila managed its structuring and restructuring projects, operationalized reform programs, and conceived and implemented integrated operational strategies. He organized roadshows and fora to promote ADB assistance available to countries and represented ADB in formal high-level coordination meetings and policy dialogues. Director Quila graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1965. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from the same university in 1971 and attended the Strategic Leadership Program at the Templeton College, Oxford University, United Kingdom in 1999. Director Manalo has over 40 years of extensive experience in government service and banking. He has been appointed director and president of various government agencies such as the Philippine National Oil Commission Petro-Chemical Development Corporation, Mimosa Golf & Country Club, Clark Development Corporation Services, Inc., Clark Development Corporation, Manpower Development and Youth Council, Board of Tourism and Travel, and Philippine College of Commerce. He was also an alternate member of the Committee on Preparations of the ADB from 1956-1966 and alternate member of the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of the Philippines from 1965-1966. He was a former governor of the Development Bank of the Philippines and served various positions in several private banks. Director Manalo earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government and Post Graduate in Business Administration from George Washington University, Washington D.C., USA. |
