PDIC Starts Servicing Claims of RB Sta. Barbara Depositors on Nov. 23

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) announced that it will start servicing claims for insured deposits in the closed Rural Bank of Sta. Barbara (Pangasinan), Inc. on Friday, November 23, four (4) days after bank takeover. RB Sta. Barbara was taken over by PDIC on November 19, 2007.

PDIC advised depositors to proceed directly to the bank premises where they maintained their deposit accounts and present to PDIC representatives their original evidence of deposits such as savings passbook or certificates of time deposit; and two (2) valid identification documents (IDs) with depositor's signature. PDIC will service claims during office hours, Monday to Friday, except holidays.

Servicing of claims in the bank's offices will be made until the following dates:

Head office - until December 18, 2007
Urdaneta and Asingan Branches - until December 13, 2007
Calasiao, Mangaldan, Sta. Maria and Tayug Branches - until December 6, 2007

The state insurer advised that after said dates, all depositors can file their claims personally at the PDIC Claims Counter, 6/F SSS Building, Ayala Avenue corner VA Rufino Street, Makati City from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, except holidays.

In a statement, PDIC reported that RB Sta. Barbara (Pangasinan), Inc. had estimated deposit liabilities amounting to P245.1 million as of takeover date.

The Monetary Board (MB) ordered the closure of Rural Bank of Sta. Barbara (Pangasinan), Inc. on November 16, 2007 by virtue of MB Resolution No. 1285. Depositors of RB Sta. Barbara (Pangasinan), Inc. are given two (2) years from bank takeover to file their claims or until November 19, 2009 only. The maximum deposit insurance coverage is P250,000 per depositor.
