Jose C. Nograles takes oath as PDIC Acting President

Banker Jose C. Nograles took his oath of office as Acting President of the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) before Finance Secretary Margarito B. Teves on December 21, 2007. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo appointed Nograles to the top PDIC post on December 12.

Prior his appointment to PDIC, Nograles was a senior executive vice president of Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), one of the top 5 commercial banks in the country, where he headed the Bank Operations and Corporate Services Sector.

He previously held the position of LBP senior vice president and treasurer, responsible for directing the operations of the bank's Treasury and Investment Banking Group. He was also board vice chairman and president of Land Bank Insurance Brokerage Inc., LBP's fully-owned subsidiary engaged in insurance brokerage and foreign exchange trading. He was previously an Assistant Minister of Natural Resources.

Nograles started his career with the Sycip, Gorres, Velayo and Co., and also held executive positions in the private sector.

He obtained his BA in Economics with honors (cum laude) from the Ateneo de Manila University and his Masters in Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management. He is married to Ma. Rosario Anson Nograles and has three children.
