PDIC holds first Caravan for the year in Calamba City

NEWS/PRESS RELEASE
PR-026-20
Date of Release: February 12, 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) is set to hold the first PDIC Caravan (Abot-Lingkod Program) for the year on February 19 to 20, 2020 at the Calamba City Hall in Laguna. The Abot-Lingkod Program is a helpdesk facility to make PDIC’s core services more accessible to its stakeholders in Region IV-A (Calabarzon).

Personnel from the PDIC will be present in the venue to assist the public with their queries and concerns about deposit insurance, loans with closed banks, and properties for sale.

In addition to the stationary Caravan at the Calamba City Hall, PDIC shall conduct financial literacy lectures to students of selected academic institutions in Calamba City as part of its Be a Wise Saver (BAWS) campaign. The PDIC will also meet with local real estate developers and brokers in the region to promote available properties for negotiated sale or public bidding. Furthermore, PDIC will hold a consultative meeting with bankers in Laguna to discuss new initiatives aimed at strengthening banks, as well as new regulations that promote depositor protection.

Depositors, borrowers, creditors and clients of closed banks in Calamba City and nearby localities are encouraged to visit the Caravan for their inquiries and other concerns. Interested property buyers are also urged to drop by the Caravan to check the list of available properties for sale.

The PDIC aims to regularly conduct its Caravan in various areas nationwide to reach more stakeholders and raise public awareness on deposit insurance and other PDIC services.
