PDIC Starts Servicing Claims of RB Narra Depositors on Dec. 15

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) announced that it will start servicing claims for insured deposits in the closed Rural Bank of Narra (Palawan), Inc. (RBNI) on Friday, December 15, a week after takeover. RB Narra was taken over last December 8, 2006.

PDIC advised depositors of the Head Office (HO) and Puerto Princesa branch to proceed directly to the bank premises where they maintained their deposit accounts and present their evidence of deposits such as savings passbook or certificates of time deposit; and two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with depositor's signature to PDIC representatives. PDIC will service claims during office hours, Monday to Friday, until December 21. RB Narra HO is located in Poblacion, Narra, Palawan while its lone branch is located at Rizal Avenue, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

In a statement, PDIC reported that RBNI has estimated deposit liabilities consisting of 4,680 deposit accounts amounting to P155.63 million.

The Monetary Board (MB) ordered the closure of RBNI on December 7. Depositors of RBNI are given 24 months from bank takeover to file their claims or until December 8, 2008 only.
