PDIC Announces Terminal Payout for Banco Rural Sorsogon, Inc

Depositors of the closed Banco Rural Sorsogon, Inc. have only until January 15, 2007 to file their deposit insurance claims.

In an advisory, the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation announced that January 15, 2007 is the prescriptive date or last date for filing claims. After this date, PDIC will no longer accept any claim for insured deposits from Banco Rural Sorsogon depositors.

Banco Rural Sorsogon was ordered closed by the Monetary Board on January 13, 2005. The bank has four units, including its head office in located in Sorsogon City. Its branches are in Daraga, Albay; Gubat, Sorsogon; and Bulan, Sorsogon. The bank's estimated insured deposits amount to P193.97 million. To date, PDIC has paid 94% of the amount or P182.22 million in insurance claims, representing 4,514 accounts.

Depositors are advised to proceed directly to the designated payout sites where PDIC representatives will service claims from January 4 to 15, during office hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Monday to Friday. For depositors of the Head Office, the payout site is at Rizal Street, Sorsogon City, Sorsogon (in front of PNB-Sorsogon). Depositors of Daraga branch are advised to file their claims at the Legaspi City Hall, Legaspi City, Albay. Depositors of Gubat branch are advised to proceed to Gubat Municipal Hall, Gubat, Sorsogon while depositors of Bulan branch should file their claims at the Bulan Municipal Hall, Bulan, Sorsogon.

Depositors should present their evidence of deposits such as savings passbook or certificates of time deposit; and two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with the depositor's signature to PDIC representatives when filing their claims.
