Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) President and CEO Ricardo M. Tan welcomed Canada Deposit Insurance Corp. (CDIC) Director for Research David Walker during a brief visit to the PDIC last July 20, 2004, where he was briefed by management of developments in deposit insurance in the local front. Mr. Walker is in the country for a two-day conference at the Asian Development Bank. CDIC is one of the more developed deposit insurance systems in the world and is at the forefront of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) which aims to contribute to the stability of financial systems by promoting international cooperation and by encouraging wide international contact among deposit insurers and other interested parties. Incidentally, deposit insurers around the world will come together for the Third Annual IADI Conference with theme, "Assembling the Tool Kit for Deposit Insurers", on October 26-27, 2004 in Brunnen, Switzerland.
