PDIC pilots Caravan to observe the 17th Depositor Protection and Awareness Week, 56th anniversary

NEWS/PRESS RELEASE
PR-048-19
Date of Release: June 14, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) is set to pilot run the PDIC Caravan – Abot Lingkod Program on June 18 to 20, 2019 during the Kabisig Government Expo at the Abreeza Mall in Davao City, making its services available to its stakeholders in the Mindanao Region. This is in observance of the 17th Depositor Protection and Awareness Week (DPAW) and its 56th Anniversary.

Personnel from the PDIC will be on hand to assist the public on their concerns about deposit insurance, loans with closed banks, and properties for sale. PDIC shall also conduct separate financial literacy lectures to students of selected universities in Davao City as part of its Be a Wise Saver (BAWS) advocacy. The Assets for Sale microsite, PDIC’s newest digital innovation, will be launched, making the access of interested parties to foreclosed corporate and closed banks’ assets ready for negotiated sale, more convenient. Requirements for negotiated sale, as well as schedules of upcoming public biddings, are also posted in the microsite. The microsite may be accessed by going to the PDIC website, www.pdic.gov.ph, then clicking Assets for Sale.

Presidential Proclamation No. 358 issued in April 2003 declared June 16 to 22 of every year as Depositor Protection and Awareness Week (DPAW) and culminates on PDIC’s anniversary on June 22. DPAW is a yearly campaign spearheaded by the PDIC aimed at strengthening the country’s banking system through enhanced depositor confidence to complement the government’s thrust of sustaining economic growth through savings mobilization.
